In the beginning, I was a Bernie fan through and through. I loved his ideas especially on health care. But as time went on, Bernie began to sound monotonous, almost militant in his message – not that much different than Trump but on the opposite side of the spectrum.

Trump has never done anything for anyone but himself. Until I have proof, I will have no choice but to believe that Trump never paid taxes, doesn’t give to charities, never held public office, doesn’t have a clue of how to be a father and cannot take criticism, which is a virtue that comes with being an adult.

Humans are complex beings. We sway from one emotion to the other. One day we crave one thing then something else the next. The world is not one sided – so I don’t believe that policies should be one sided. I chose her because I believed that she possessed the ability to govern closer to the middle than her opponents – That she had a better chance at governing in a way so that at least all parties would be somewhat represented.

Clearly, I didn’t get what I wanted. However, I have the feeling that neither did anyone else.

I don’t know if I should be sad by these results or just flat-out angry that we have so many dunderheads living in this country. If I were to choose one, I think that I would sway more towards being flat-out angry, and here’s why.

So, Hillary was not elected and yes…I voted for her. Even if I were a Bernie supporter I would have voted for her because voting for someone like Trump is not in my nature…he just doesn’t speak to me or for me. On the other hand, not voting at all would not be in my nature because I am not a dunderhead.

The fact that there are so many dunderheads in this country is just maddening. I don’t understand why so many people would choose not to vote in an election such as this. If I were to speculate what some nonvoters would say, I guess I would hear; “I didn’t vote because I don’t trust Hillary” – “I didn’t vote because I don’t trust Trump” – “I didn’t vote because Bernie lost” – “I didn’t vote because I don’t trust the government.” Whatever the reason, what I hear is, “I didn’t vote.”

Deep down, I believe the reason why so many people chose not to vote has very little to with laziness or because they were trying to make some sort of political statement and more to do with ignorance. Ignorance is the root of much of our failures as a human race. Ignorance is the root of racism, drug addiction, the act of finding the right partner, war, the conflict between Israel & Palestine, why we lost the peace in the Middle East – ignorance is the root of our evils. If we don’t take the time to learn, how in the hell are we going to understand? Instead, we complain, rant and rave on our fears and misgivings – blaming them all on OTHERS, whatever others may be, and not taking responsibility for your own choices – even if it is the choice of not doing anything at all.

So, the majority of the village has chosen the village idiot to lead us for the next 4 years and god forbid he gets impeached because what we would be left with would be much worse. All we can do is MOVE ON and hope that he doesn’t fuck things up so much that the next administration or the one after that, or the one after that, would be left with such a tangled mess that it would take a generation to figure out how to untangle it. The parable of having such a great fall that all of the king’s horses and men couldn’t put things back together, is beginning to feel less than a nursery rhyme and more like a premonition.

Trumpty Dumpty…the irony of it all.
